Present Tense

(Presente Indicativo): Verbs show actions happening now.

• Parlare (to speak)
  • Io parlo (I speak)
  • Tu parli (You speak)
  • Lui/Lei parla (He/She speaks)
  • Noi parliamo (We speak)
  • Voi parlate (You [plural] speak)
  • Loro parlano (They speak)
• Gender of Nouns: Many nouns are masculine or feminine.
  • Il libro (the book) (masculine)
  • La casa (the house) (feminine)

Sentence Structures:

• Basic Sentence (SVO): Subject - Verb - Object
  • La ragazza legge il libro. (The girl reads the book.)
• Adjectives: Adjectives typically come after the noun they describe.
  • La macchina blu (The blue car)
• Questions (Yes/No): Use question intonation at the end or add "vero?" (right?).
  • Parli italiano? (Do you speak Italian?) / Parli italiano, vero?
• Wh- Questions: Use question words like "chi" (who), "che" (what), "dove" (where), etc.
  • Chi è? (Who is it?) / Dove abiti? (Where do you live?)
